We are looking for a dedicated Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Calgary office, someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to grow with us.

The Role:

As an Intermediate Structural Engineer at Sense Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in delivering structural engineering solutions across various projects, with a particular focus on new and existing institutional, commercial and residential buildings. From concept design to detailed design and construction, you will apply your expertise to design new structures, evaluate existing structures, provide innovative solutions, and support our commitment to excellence. The role is flexible and can include higher levels of client interaction or a more internally focused technical position based on your strengths and preferences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze structures for new construction, renovation and restoration and rehabilitation projects.
  • Evaluate existing buildings, leveraging knowledge of diverse materials and structural systems.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members to ensure project success.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and budgets effectively.
  • Conduct site reviews and contract administration inspections and provide guidance during construction.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering; a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is a strong asset.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of buildings structural engineering experience, preferably involving existing buildings and new construction of institutional, commercial and residential buildings.
  • Licensing: Registered as a Professional Engineer or eligible for registration with APEGA.
  • Skills:
    • Strong technical expertise in structural engineering and materials.
    • Proficiency with structural design software (e.g., S-Frame, ETABS, spSlab) and familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
